Privacy policy
Effective October 10, 2026. This policy covers the PDFBirdie app for Mac and the pdfbirdie.com website.
The short version
- The PDFBirdie app collects no data. It can't connect to the internet, and we never see your documents.
- This website uses analytics cookies to see how people use it. In the EU, UK and Switzerland, they only run if you accept. Anywhere else, you can turn them off under "Your Privacy Choices" at the bottom of any page.
- If you give us your email to get the download link, we email you the link and keep your address to send you PDFBirdie news. You can unsubscribe anytime, and we'll delete it when you ask.
- We don't sell your data, and we don't use it for advertising.
Who's responsible for your data
Wildfront LLC makes PDFBirdie ("Wildfront," "we" or "us"). For people in the EU and UK, Wildfront LLC is the "controller" of the personal data described here, which means we decide how it's used.

The legal reasons we rely on
For people in the EU and UK, the GDPR says we need a legal reason, called a legal basis, for each way we use personal data. We rely on these:
- Your consent, when you've said yes, such as when you give us your email
- Our legitimate interests, when a use is needed to run PDFBirdie and doesn't outweigh your rights, such as answering your emails
- The law, when we have to keep or share data to follow it
The PDFBirdie app
We collect nothing through the app. PDFBirdie works entirely on your Mac. It has no servers, accounts, analytics or crash reporting of its own, and your Mac blocks it from connecting to the internet. Its App Store privacy label says "Data Not Collected." See how to check
Your documents and settings stay on your Mac. That includes saved signatures (in your Keychain), autofill details, recent files and earlier versions of documents. We can't see any of it. You can turn off or delete document history in PDFBirdie's settings.
Optional AI features. AI is off unless you turn it on. If you turn it on and add your own OpenAI or Anthropic API key, the text of the document you use it on goes straight from your Mac to the provider you chose, under that provider's terms and privacy policy. It never passes through us. Your key stays in your Keychain. Turn AI off in PDFBirdie's settings and nothing is sent.
Downloads and purchases. Apple handles downloads, updates and any purchases through the Mac App Store. Apple's privacy policy covers that information. We only see Apple's reports, which don't identify you.
Ads. If we advertise PDFBirdie, it will only be through Apple's App Store ads. Apple runs those ads and their reporting under its own privacy policy. We don't advertise on this website, and the app has no ad tracking.
What we collect and why
This is everything we, Wildfront, hold about people. Anything not listed here, we don't collect.

Who we share it with
We use a few companies to run PDFBirdie. They only use your data to do this work for us:
- Loops stores email addresses and sends our emails.
- Cloudflare hosts this website.
- Google runs Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics for this website.
- Our email provider stores the emails you send us.
- Apple runs the Mac App Store and sends us crash reports.
We never sell your data or share it for advertising. We'd only share it with anyone else if the law requires it, to protect people's safety, or as part of selling or merging the company. If that last one happens, we'd tell you first, and this policy would still apply to your data.
Transfers outside your country
Wildfront is in the United States, and so are the companies above, or they work worldwide. If you're in the EU or UK, your data is sent to the United States. We rely on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (and its UK extension) where a company is certified, and on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses where it isn't.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- Show you the data we hold about you, or send you a copy
- Correct it
- Delete it
- Stop sending you emails, which you can also do with the unsubscribe link in any email
In the EU and UK, the GDPR also gives you the right to limit or object to how we use your data, to get it in a form you can move to another service, and to take back your consent anytime. Taking it back doesn't affect anything we did before. We'll answer within one month. You can also complain to your local data protection authority (find yours) or, in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office, though we'd like the chance to help first.
In the United States, if your state has a privacy law, such as California, you have similar rights. We don't sell or share personal data as those laws define it, and we won't treat you differently for using your rights.
In Canada, you can ask to see and correct your data, and take back your consent. If you're not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
To make a request, email privacy@pdfbirdie.com. It's free, and we'll answer within 30 days, or sooner where the law says so. We may ask you to confirm the request from the email address it's about.
Cookies
We use cookies to see how people use this website. We load Google Analytics through Google Tag Manager. There are no advertising cookies.
| Cookie | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
pb_consent |
Remembers your cookie choice. It's always on, because the site needs it to respect your choice. | 6 months |
Google Analytics cookies, such as _ga |
Tell visits from the same browser apart, so we can count visitors and see how they use the site | Up to 2 years |
Your choices. In the EU, UK and Switzerland, we ask first, and Google Analytics only runs if you click Accept all. Everywhere else, it runs when you visit, and you can turn it off anytime:
- Choose Your Privacy Choices at the bottom of any page, then Reject all.
- Turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser. If you haven't made a choice with us, we treat it as Reject all.
- Install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
- Email privacy@pdfbirdie.com with "Privacy Choices Request." We'll handle it within 15 business days.
Finding your country. To decide whether to ask for consent, Cloudflare works out your country from your IP address when you visit. We don't store it. The yes-or-no answer stays in your browser until you close the tab.
Do Not Track. This website doesn't respond to Do Not Track signals. It does respond to Global Privacy Control, as described above. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser's settings.
How we protect your data
We keep as little as we can. Only the people at Wildfront who need it can see it, and the companies we use protect it with encryption and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but your documents are never at risk from us, since they never leave your Mac.
Children
PDFBirdie isn't meant for children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their personal data. If you think a child gave us their email, write to privacy@pdfbirdie.com and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here and update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use your email, we'll tell you by email first.
